Philosophy of Care

Dr. Marianne Bernadino genuinely believes that people are always doing the best that they can in their lives and their relationships given the resources available to them. Due to the high level of treatment refractory depression, she is motivated to increase resources in her community.

As a former clinical social worker, Dr. Bernadino approaches mental health from a bio-psycho-social model. During your initial consultation, she will consider all of the potential contributing factors. These factors may include other medical conditions, current medications, lifestyle issues, social factors, and genetic predisposition. We will then discuss the next steps in your treatment plan given your unique history and preferences.

Dr. Bernadino brings a collaborative approach to her work with patients and other important team players as identified by the patient. She strives to create a safe, comfortable, and friendly office environment conducive to a calm and healing experience for her patients.

Background and Experience

 

Dr. Bernadino entered the field of Psychiatry after practicing as a clinical social worker for many years in the areas of medical and adoption social work. She is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who focuses on treating Major Depressive Disorder and is Certified in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and administers Ketamine Therapy

 

Education and Training

 

Dr. Bernadino received her Bachelors of Social Work in 1996 from Luther College, where she graduated Cum Laude. She then went on to earn her Masters degree in 1999 from the University of Minnesota. In 2008, Dr. Bernadino entered into the medical program at University of Minnesota Medical School, where she graduated in 2013, and completed her residency in Psychiatry in 2017.

Dr. Bernadino was a co-author of several published articles including: "Initiation of a Patient Continuity in Psychiatry Residency", "A Resident Led Approach to a Professional Values Curriculum", and "The Development and Implementation of a Patient Continuity Conference in a Psychiatry Residency Program".
